Principal, Teri Wood, a widely recognized labor and employment lawyer globally for in-house, law firm and federal agency expertise brings more than 40 years of extraordinary practice to the firm. Teri has led teams of attorneys internationally (both in-house attorneys and law firms) as chief global labor and employment counsel, including at IBM Corporation and American Express Company. She has had responsibility for employment, labor, immigration, pension, benefits, litigation, corporate transactions in employment, restrictive covenants and executive compensation law.
At the 1,000+ attorney workplace law firm of Jackson Lewis, P.C., Teri was Of Counsel in the firm’s New York City office where she specialized in impartial investigations, senior executive coaching and training, Artificial Intelligence review, advice and consulting and policy and compliance issues.
Prior to her time as in-house and law firm counsel, Teri was an administrative judge for the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Earlier she was a litigation associate at a national law firm based in New York City. Teri is admitted to law practice in the state and federal courts in New York and is currently retired from admission to the Kansas bar and courts.
Teri currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the Center for Labor and Employment Law at NYU School of Law and as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Technology Section Space Law Committee. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel, Greater New York Chapter, and is past President of the Association’s New York Chapter and Chair of its Employment Law Committee. Teri has been a member of the Board of Governors of Washburn University School of Law, where she holds a Juris Doctor degree, and is a member of the school’s Transactional Law Center and is a current member of the Association of Workplace Investigators. In 2019 she received a Doctor of Laws, Honorary Degree, from Washburn Law School and delivered the graduation address. She also co-founded the Westchester-Fairfield Employment Law Roundtable and has served as co-chair of the ACC Westchester-Fairfield Employment Law Committee. Teri has also served as a member of IBM’s retirement plans Investment Committee and served as legal counsel to the plans fiduciary committee and was co-chair of the Law Department Education Committee. While at American Express Company, Teri served on the Supervisory Committee of the Federal Credit Union and acted as General Counsel.
